My Students
I teach K-8 Adaptive Physical Education students that have a variety of intellectual, physical and sensory impairments. Our school is part of an all Special Education District. I modify each lesson according to their personal goals and together with great paraprofessionals, work very hard for them to achieve those personal goals.
My students love participating in all physical activities.
We are limited in space and equipment so we do our best with what we have. Having more choices of games and activities will motivate my students even more.
My Project
These materials would certainly make a difference in my student's learning. As my students come back into the school building during these challenging times, it will look very different to them and it is as important as ever to ensure that they are able to exercise, dance, move and have fun in their Adaptive Physical Education class while remaining safe and healthy. It is my plan to provide specific equipment that each of my students can individually have and use to make their experience in my class feel as "normal" as possible. By providing each student with their own yoga mat, ball, scarf, bean bag and more, they are able to remain safe while being able to participate in many different physical activities and exercises. My goal is to get my students back to moving and feeling good emotionally as well as physically through my class activities.
