Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students show up to class everyday eager to learn despite the challenges they are faced with in and out of the classroom. The children in the area are poor and have a high achievement gap. Since the school is a low socioeconomic school, it is assumed that our students cannot perform on academic assessments. I can assure you that they try their BEST on everything that comes their way.

My goal as a bilingual teacher is to encourage them to love learning and be able to realize their limitless possibilities through education.

They love to read and love lots of positive attention. When they want to talk, I am always available to listen. They are great helpers and I know I can count on them. Best of all is that they are extremely respectful and enjoy receiving compliments on their great behavior! Everyday I make sure and instill good qualities that will make them amazing citizens.

My Project

Having flexible seating in our classroom is sure to be a success for my students! Being able to provide them with a learning environment other than what they're used to is sure to get them motivated to learn.

A flexible classroom will empower student choice, increase student engagement, and improve student participation.

Giving my students a choice of what kind of learning space works best for them is sure to keep them engaged. They will love their new stools during instructional time and/or free voluntary reading time. Seeing the smiles on their faces when receiving something they probably never imagined having in their classrooms will definitely make a change.
