This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an urban setting. I teach music to students in grades Prek-8 usually once a week. My school is located in a low income neighborhood. My student population is very diverse. I do not have a budget to buy supplies and I rely on grants to fund my program.
I do not have enough tubanos (hand drums) for all of the students in the room to use to perform in a percussion ensemble. My students love the percussion ensembles and I have to have students share drums right now and take turns.
I would like to add 4 tubanos (hand drums) to my music classrooms which will help more students perform on percussion parts in the percussion ensembles. Students will enjoy having their own instrument to use in class rather than taking turns and sharing.
I do not get a budget for my program. I write grants and rely on donors like you to fund my program. Your support will help students be able to perform music in my classroom.
