This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning we begin our day with our morning circle, where we pick a student question from the bucket. Usually our class guinea pig, Jelly Belly will join us. My students are vibrant thinkers that love sharing their thoughts and ideas.
My school is located in a predominantly Latino area.
It is an area where there are many disparities and inequalities. My students are in a school that is trying to change that and give them many different opportunities. The school focuses on making students think, build their character traits, create different projects, connect the natural world to every aspect of learning, and experience the world through field trips. My 2nd graders are an active bunch who love sharing their ideas, helping others, hungry for knowledge and challenges, and asking many questions! They love sharing how they solve problems and the many different ways they could solve them.
My Project
The document camera will help my students share their work with everyone else. They love sharing what they do with each other and the document camera will help showcase their hard work. It will also help them get better prepared when learning in the classroom. I can easily project worksheets and scaffold how to do the work by doing it with them. I can have students come up and show and explain to the class how to solve math problems by projecting their work. The document camera will open up new possibilities for them to be the teachers of the classroom.
By donating to this project, my students will be exposed to a new form of technology.
In an age where technology is taking over, we need to make sure that our students are aware and know how to use different forms of technology. My students are developing their computer skills, but I also want them to be exposed to other forms of technology. Having this document camera will make my students more technology savvy, as well as mini teachers.
