Help me give my students a variety of read-a loud mentor texts to help create interest, background knowledge, and engaging class discussions.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wardell's classroom raised $264

My Students

I get to spend my days with about 100 active, intelligent problem solvers, also known as 4th graders.

My students love their flexible, assigned seats and are learning what works best for them.

They enjoy working and collaborating together. They are encouraged to discuss, ask questions, and share insights together.

My Project

I get to teach integrated Reading and Social Studies to approximately 100 4th graders. While many of the 4th graders are motivated to read and participate, several others lack confidence or life experiences to participate in discussions.

Using Read-A-Louds as mentor texts allows ALL students an opportunity to gain background knowledge and the ability to participate in class conversations.

Using a mentor text to introduce a new unit or reading concept builds a fun, powerful class experience that impowers my 4th graders. We can continually refer to the books and the lessons we learned, while building stamina and practicing strategies to read and discuss more complex texts.
