Let’s Decompress in a Tent

Help me give my students a calming space to decompress and escape the overwhelming demands of the classroom.

My Project

My students experience sensory overload daily. We have weighted blankets, weighted lap animals, body sox, vibrating pillows, sensory brushes, and compression vests. We pretty much have it all, but what we don’t have is an area of the classroom where my students can temporarily hide and shut out the world. That’s why I am requesting a black-out tent.

Having a dark area of the room with visually stimulating toys will allow my students the time they need to calm down so that they can regain their focus before returning to their work.

Overall, this should cause a significant decrease in maladaptive behaviors.

I am also requesting books and activities for my students who have emerging literacy and math skills.
