This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Design thinking, tinkering and exploring, designing and creating... The way of the future!
My students are eager 4th graders ready to face the technological world!
They are growing up in a community that is not ready for the STEM education, and it is up to my students to teach them. My students want to think critically, problem-solve, and collaborate on many projects! They know that no one is perfect and they need to build prototypes, explore questions, try/fail and retry, and the only way they will be successful is by collaborating and getting different problem solving ideas from each other. They are just lacking the tools to put their practice into place.
My Project
With a New 40W/45W CO2 Hobby Laser (5th gen: 20"x12" + Removable Floor), my students would have the resources necessary to test their ideas. This laser would allow my students to expand their interests in STEM and make their prototypes a reality.
The laser would make cuts that my students could see, and problem solve if a mistake arises. This would allow my students to think critically, problem-solve, and collaborate on many projects. I feel that integrating aspects of design thinking and playfulness into the curriculum, providing time during the day or during a unit for this kind of free exploration is crucial to their understanding, and the Hobby Laser would provide this integration!
So, how do we bring this kind of laser into the classroom so that every child has access to a safe, creative space for exploration?
With your help and donation, our students will be more prepared for a STEM world!
