Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher to an amazing group of second grade students. I look forward to the warm good morning handshakes, smiles and greetings from each one as they walk into our classroom.

The school they attend is classified as a Title I school; therefore most of them are "at-risk students".

All of them qualify to participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs. The community in which they live in is stricken by a high level of poverty. This, however, does not affect their desire to please me, which in turn makes me love my job even more so. I can only hope to impact them on the importance of striving for success.

My Project

With the selected Cricut, vinyl and cutting mats, I will be able to cut-out positive phrases and display them throughout the school. The students will learn how to treat each other with respect and value the feelings of their friends and adults. In addition, I want to create class shirts they can wear to special school activities and/or field trips.

I'd like to have a positive learning environment for all the students in the school since it is a "Leader in Me" school; and I would like to help my students become leaders in society.

The school environment is the only safe and positive place some of my students have; so my goal is to impact them while they are in school with an anti-bullying environment. Finally, with your help I want to make a difference in the life of a group of children that deserve what every child should have.
