This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great”- My students are some of the greatest people that you'll ever meet. They are creative, curious, funny, sometimes lazy, sometimes disorganized, kind and eager to help.
My students are always creating, drawing, sculpting, folding, carving, critiquing, analyzing, comparing, problem solving, and LEARNING!
I am a Studio Arts teacher, who loves their job! During this unprecedented time, I need your help. I am looking for ways to make learning engaging, appropriate and most importantly successful for all of my amazing students.
My Project
These boards will allow students to draw from anywhere - in the class, outside the class, or even at home! Students can draw what they see where they are sitting or standing at an easel. This creates a more flexible learning environment anywhere. The boards are easy to carry to transfer to any space for learning. We will use these materials in the classroom and if a student needs to quarantine they could check out the easel to take home during their time of quarantine. The wood will sanitize well between uses. Chicago is a vibrant city, so students will be able to capture some of that beauty outside with these travel boards as we take our class outside!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
