Let's Create Art for the Digital World!

Help me give my students the opportunity to create digital art using the Procreate app on this iPad. This will allow students to create artwork digitally that can be printed for the final Exhibitions and Art Portfolios!

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Briggs's classroom raised $751

My Students

I teach art, and my students are definitely one-of-a-kind! As an art teacher, I get all different types of students. Some students are highly invested in art and taking the IB Art Program, while others are just in my class for a fun time! My class is unique because I tend to get all different types of students from all different backgrounds and ethnicities.

I love that art transcends language barriers and that many of the students who take my classes are able to learn and develop in the arts regardless of some of their own limitations.

I love my class because even the kids who struggle in math, science, or reading are able to succeed if they give it an honest effort! What a sweet blessing for them!

COVID-19 has greatly impacted learning, especially in Visual Arts. Teaching drawing on an online service like Zoom is very difficult. I have found that the Zoom meetings do not allow the students the opportunity to see demonstrations without the images being flipped or pixelated. It has caused a lot of added stress to my life, and the lack of resources to help solve this problem has been very challenging.

My Project

Currently, I have a ton of art students that have the desire to pursue digital art careers. My classroom materials do not support that desire, and my students have no means of creating artwork digitally in our classroom! This iPad and Apple Pencil stylus will be used in my classroom in conjunction with the apps to let students create digital artwork that can be printed Large Scale for the exhibition pieces in IB Visual Arts. The Logitech Keyboard will be used by students to add text into their digital artwork and prop up the iPad for proper drawing form. The keyboard will also allow me to do grading on the iPad with the keyboard on the go while walking around assisting students.

This iPad will also be used during Zoom meetings to better demonstrate drawing because I can create recorded time-lapses of my drawing to help students see how to draw.

The ability of doing time-lapses digitally will allow for quicker upload time, less pixelation and audio addition to help visually demonstrate what I want them to work on.

Time-lapses will allow for better differentiation because we can slow down videos, speed them up, or add annotation or subtitles. Drawing on Zoom can be very difficult with pixelated web cams, so this is going to greatly enhance my students' virtual learning experience!
