This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students and adults alike gravitate to spaces that are inviting, flexible, and where they feel at home. As the heart and hub of our school, that's exactly the type of space I have set out to create in our Library Media Center. I serve as the library media specialist to creative, compassionate, curious, eager learners, their families, and their teachers. Students from age 4 to 14, along with their teachers use the library media center as, not only a source for books, but as a place for adults and students to collaboratively learn. The students have been enthusiastically assisting me in reinventing our media center so that it is vibrant and relevant once again. From creating lists of titles of books for purchase, to the design of the space and selection of the tables we are requesting, the students have been hands-on throughout the entire process.

Your donations will help create a space that is as inviting and as vibrant as the bookstores our teachers and students love to visit and spend time in.

The table sets and reading-themed sign provide just that! The tables and stools offer our patrons different flexible learning spaces that can easily serve as quiet study areas, places to conduct group activities, or even solve puzzles - a space where they can communicate, share ideas, play games, or simply get lost in a good book.
