My Project
The materials that I am requesting for my students already have a place in our Earth Science curriculum. In other words, I already have the lesson ready to go. We just need your help in getting the geodes for the Geology exploratory lab! With the included wrap-around goggles to protect our eyes, and hammers available to borrow from a cooperative agriculture class, all we lack are the geodes. Students will follow the safety guidelines that are reviewed at the start of all science classes, as well as the activity procedure, to have a successful geode experience.
Donations of the geodes to this project will help my students understand how rocks form in a variety of ways, and will also give them the chance to explore the crystals hidden inside.
By implementing this lab experience, students will be able to use specific personal knowledge about geodes to describe the rock cycle in their own words. We will use these materials to foster a lifelong love of learning about our natural world. As the teacher, I will have the pleasure of watching the light of comprehension dawn on the faces of my students. Thank you for this opportunity.
