My Project
The pandemic has had a devastating impact on our students, and it will take some time to get them caught up. Lack of in-person instruction, WIFI connection issues, lack of home resources, lack of engagement, mental health challenges, inability to move during online classes, and limited contact and communication with other students and teachers are just a handful of examples of how students suffered during the online school experience. I experienced multiple situations in which students were not present at all, so at this point, we are trying to fill in math gaps to the best of our ability and provide opportunities for choice and collaboration in the classroom.
By donating to our Let's Collaborate project, you will allow students to have more mobility in the classroom and increase spaces for collaboration in math lessons.
Being able to collaborate with others will help facilitate advancing their academic learning in class. The wobble seats will be used around a circular floor table at the rear of the room for those preferring to sit to work on math with others on the floor. Currently, students sit directly on the floor. The three standing tables will be used for mobility and collaborative learning. Our students have a packed 8 period day with little to no options for standing. Individual whiteboards will be available to those students to aid in showing their math work and engaging in mathematical conversations using the language of the discipline.
