This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I want my students’ first experience in school to be filled with exciting memories. One of the most exciting aspects of being a child is the holidays. This project is filled with materials to make the first day of school, Halloween, winter break, Valentine's Day, the 100th day of school, St. Patrick's Day, and end-of-the-year graduation truly memorable. This project includes materials to decorate our Valentine's Day mailboxes with glitter hearts, doilies, and stickers. On the 100th day of school we will transform into 100th day heroes. In this project I have added capes and masks for the kids to wear. For St. Patrick's Day I added pop its that our classroom leprechaun will leave for the students. These classroom celebrations are important because we are a Title I school. This project helps ensure that every child in my class has a chance to celebrate special occasions with their peers.
Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the magic of celebrating an accomplishment or holiday with their classmates.With these materials I will complete classroom transformations, have gifts for the students, and acknowledge the special moments in childhood.
As well as celebrating the holidays I also want to recognize positive behavior. In my classroom my students earn money for following our classroom expectations. On Fridays they can turn in their money for different rewards. Many students’ favorite reward is my treasure chest. In addition to having some small gifts to give the students on the holidays, I have also included some small trinkets to fill our treasure chest throughout the year. My students are still very young and they often need motivation to learn classroom rules this system helps the kids effectively learn the expectations.
