This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I have the pleasure to have an amazing class of 18 boys and girls. Our school is Title I and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch. I feel very lucky to have been able to teach this amazing group of students this year. I’ve seen how some of my students that struggled in certain areas are flourishing and made me proud to see how hard they have worked throughout the year.
I like to provide my students with a positive and respectful environment.
Unfortunately, my students sometimes see the total opposite when they leave the classroom and re-enter the world. Many of my students deal with unfortunate circumstances of life when they are away from school. Most of my students were either born in another country or have parents that are from another native country. Because of this broad range of differences, I always strive to make their classroom a place of peace, love, and escape, where they can learn, play.
My Project
Due to the coronavirus, school was canceled abruptly. Once I found the news, I couldn’t stop thinking about my students. It really broke my heart that we weren’t going to celebrate this successful year the proper way. Even though it wasn’t surprising it was still unexpected.
This project would allow me to celebrate everything they have accomplished.
At the end of the year I like to celebrate them with a pizza party, snacks, a movie and many other treats. With your help we will do a virtual End of the Year Party and they will get their treats.
These materials will help me create goodie bags that will have a mix of everything they will need for the new school year and fun activities to use during the summer. I’m also including a book for the students to read in the Summer.
