Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are part of a wonderful Spanish immersion program. Instruction in kindergarten is 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. They are life-long learners in a bilingual community.

My students are full of excitement and confidence, and they are hard workers.

They are curious learners, ready to collaborate and problem solve. Each student is unique and has different learning styles. I want my students to thrive in the classroom and build the foundation they need to be successful in the school years to come.

My Project

Children engage in learning when it is fun and hands on. My goal is to continue to provide different ways for students to learn in a playful manner.

Kinetic sand is not only for free exploration, but can be used for educational purposes.

My plan is to use kinetic sand to build letters, syllables, and sight words. It can also be used to apply in math number building & algebraic concepts, such as addition and subtraction. This will also provide opportunity for students to use their fine motor skills, an essential skill in kindergarten. In addition, the magnetic sentence strips are a great way for students to apply their writing skills, using a dry erase marker. I have magnetic letter tiles that students can use to build words on the magnetic strips. We can also use magnetic sentence strips to practicing writing addition and subtraction sentences.
