This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My young adult students (18-22) all have various special needs. The shredder will be part of our office/clerical skills center in our class. Our Transition Program focuses on independent living and employment skills. The shredder will be a tool for both. They will learn the importance of properly disposing of documents with sensitive/confidential personal information, as well as gain employment skills for clerical jobs. They will learn how to stay safe while using office equipment, such as the shredder and others such as a laminating machine and paper cutter (last purchased by myself). With the help of donors, my students will be able to learn in real time.
More than half of students from low‑income households
