This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In Kindergarten we have one new learning unit every other month. Unit 6 is called, "I Build, I Create." In this unit, students will learn that creating can involve art, building, and other activities and that people build and create for a purpose with a variety of materials and tools to help them to create new things. They will also learn that people build and create for a variety of reasons - work, hobby, enjoyment. Lastly they will explore how forces of motion impact building and creating.

This is a new unit of study so my goal is to provide them with materials that they can easily manipulate themselves while meeting the learning standards of this unit.

I am coming from having nothing to support their learning. Having these tools will provide them with materials to build and create while playing. Using magnets they will learn how magnets repel and attract and how easily things we build can be impacted by a simple force of motion - magnets are very easily broken down. One of the sets allows them to see that people can build for those reasons listed above by providing them with extra materials that may be deemed as hobby and/or enjoyment.

My 25 Littles are so very special and deserve all the things to help them learn. They enjoy using hands-on learning throughout their day, being busy, exploring how things work. To be able to provide them with these magnet tiles would mean expanding their horizons.
