Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a predominantly Hispanic school with many kids experiencing homelessness and going through the foster care system. Although many of my students may be struggling at home, they come to school smiling and ready to learn. They are smart, excited, and hardworking. It is my goal to provide as much as possible for the amazing scholars I have in my classroom.
My Project
This project is to help build my classroom library so my students have access to more books. Many of these scholars do not have the funds to buy their own books, so my goal is to provide them with the resources to build their love of reading. They will be able to take the books home with a class library system. This will allow them to improve their reading skills as well foster a love of reading in books they are interested in. Reading has always been such an escape for me, and I know that it can be their escape from hard times as well.
