I am a 4th grade teacher in a low-income school district. I teach all core subject areas and specialize in Science. There is a large English as a Second Language population in our school.
Can you even imagine living without a computer at your house? For most of my students, access to computers is limited. Many of them only get to use the computer during our brief computer time in the school computer lab.
I try to encourage students to use computers as frequently as possible. I would love to be able to give them access to a laptop. I would allow them to use the laptop during school, and in special circumstances, let them bring the laptop home to complete a project. This laptop will truly make learning more fun for many of my students.
Your help will truly develop the level of understanding about technology for many of my students. You will make it possible for my students to type reports that previously would have been hand written. Seeing the excitement in the students' eyes when using a computer makes me want to give them even more access in the classroom and at home.
