My students need 2 computers in the classroom, quality reading materials for the listening center, literature related to math, and an art drying rack for our masterpieces.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Access to technology is a luxury that many students at my school will not have unless it's available at school. Computer knowledge is a critical part of a child's education and there are so many opportunities available through the Internet.
Most of my students speak English as a second language and do not have parents that speak English well enough to help with school work past the first grade.
Our school is a low income Title I school with 100% free breakfast and lunch provided for all. Having a computer with Internet access is a rarity because families either cannot afford it or our parents do not have basic computer skills needed to make it a worth while investment.
My Project
By getting computers for the classroom, my students will obtain basic computer knowledge that will hopefully go on with them through high school and college. They will learn how to search the Internet and have an understanding about why having computer knowledge is so important to their lives.
I am also asking for books that come with Cd's so that students can hear stories come alive. They can learn to follow along with the print in the books and they get to listen to classic fairytales that have been told for centuries.
By donating to this project you will be helping to bring new learning opportunities to my students.
You will be providing my students with materials that they would otherwise not have access to. To compete with children from the rest of the country they need your help.
