Let's Bring Some Magic to Our Sensory Needs

Help me give my students sensory materials, to support their sensory systems during learning activities throughout their school day. The materials I would like to purchase for my classroom would promote positive behavior & body awareness.

My Students

I am starting as a new teacher in a Mild-Moderate Special Education. I would love to have reading books, puzzles, fidget toys and some board games. My goal is create a calming area for kids whom are needing a break. Please help an older mom starting a new career. I would love a exciting learning environment.

My students are often present with sensory difficulties where their neurological systems are not always organized and able to respond appropriately to a multitude of sensory information that is in their bodies.

When my student's sensory systems are not regulated, intact sensory strategies are important for all activities in their environment at school. The materials I would like to purchase for my classroom would promote in-seat positive behavior, attention to task, and body awareness. Sensory interventions using sensory strategies are a part of other evidence-based practices to include exercise, reinforcement, and self-management techniques.

My Project

My students have a multitude of sensory needs from: sensitivity (crying), anger when being told that's not a good choice, rushing to complete a task (finding a way to slow down), finding a way to just gain attention to work. The materials I would like to purchase for my classroom would promote positive behavior, attention to task and body awareness. Sensory interventions using sensory strategies allow the students some reinforcement and self-management techniques. I would like to obtain a calm environment for my students and we never know what their home environment contains.
