I teach a fun, active group of 25 second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!
My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.
They need engaging ways to practice the skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level need engaging ways to challenge their brains!
They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.
My Project
In March of 2020, the world of education changed. We were asked to create lessons that could be done online at the drop of a hat. These lessons were created without knowing what items a student had at home to help them be successful. We created lessons and hoped our children had the resources at home to help them complete the assignments. Because of this, students did not have an equal opportunity to learn the content.
These resources will help even that playing field by providing students with home learning materials.
The binders will be used to create an at-home learning support guide. There will be reference sheets for the child, or parent, to refer to when completing work. There will also be worksheets guides we use often in page protectors. This will let them complete assignments on paper, instead of the computer. Students will be provided with an Expo marker, highlight, and crayons to help them complete the assignments at home. The paper will be used to make the binder bright and appealing.
With these materials, we will be ready for whatever virtual learning throws at us!
