My students need paint, crayons, scissors and other supplies to bring art into our classroom.

My Students
Students need creative outlets not only during art and music time, but during all the core subjects. It is my dream to use students creative side in enhancing the standards of learning in kindergarten.
We are a city school with little money and large class sizes.
Most students are on a free or reduce lunch. Often the supplies are not available for every class. Kindergarten students really need to be able to express themselves by creating pictures, since they are unable to read and write. My students could really use paints, crayons, scissors, and stamps to enhance their learning. In addition I am asking for big book clips to help store supplies in the classroom, in an organized fashion.
My Project
During language arts, I use creative projects to reinforce and develop various skills! Not all of my students have scissors and crayons to use during the day.
Our reading unit has a nature theme throughout the year with lots of educational art projects. Students are engaged and excited when they complete an art project on their own or with a small group. In science and social studies we are always gluing, cutting and creating our Standards of Learning. For example instead of just drawing a map, we create a large class map with three-dimensional building.
In science we use our senses to make observations and create posters showing what we have learned. Students will be able to show the life cycle of a butterfly or frog with the paints and crayons. The stamps can be used during math to build fundamental addition problems. By being creative with our resources we are reducing the number of worksheets the kids do every day and really allowing them to show what they know through art.
Please help make my room a brighter place for the Kindergarten students to come to everyday.
Your help can ensure that my students have their own art supplies to create, learn and grow in the classroom!
