Let's Boogie Down and Be Great in Reading and Math

My students need 6 Boogie boards and one tabletop dry erase board to offer them a fun, creative way to practice their writing skills during our small group sessions.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school, I teach students who are faced with many difficult situations. Therefore, I believe my students deserve to have lots of fun while learning at school.

I get to spend my school days surrounded by a group of excited, inquisitive, and loving students.

They need a great deal of positive adult attention and must have engaging ways to stay focused and motivated.

Many of these students live in single parent homes with very limited resources and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. They don't often have the support they need at home, so I strive to be the support and strength they need to become successful. It is my goal to make them feel loved, encouraged, and accepted each and every day.

My Project

These materials I am requesting for our classroom will provide a creative, engaging way for my students to show their learning during our small group reading and math time each day. I already know exactly where these supplies will go and how they will be used. I just need your help getting them in the door and into the hands of my students.

My students will use these materials daily and these supplies will provide a fun way for them to be able to record their thinking.

My students aren't afforded many opportunities for use of fun and engaging materials outside of the classroom, so I enjoy being able to offer them as many of those experiences in my classroom as I can.

These supplies will help to keep my students focused and engaged while demonstrating what they've learned. Students will be using these materials to practice writing their spelling words and to answer math questions during our small group lessons. These materials will also be used by students when they are working with a partner to record their observations during science lessons. The materials will also allow me to demonstrate and model as I instruct. I plan to keep the tabletop whiteboard at my small group table so it is easily accessible when I'm modeling reading and writing strategies during Guided Reading lessons. I'll also be able to use magnetic letters on the board when doing word work during these literacy lessons. Each of these items will be loved and used quick frequently in our classroom.
