This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third grade students are mostly English Language Learners who come from families of low socioeconomic status. They speak Spanish and are mastering English. They come from humble homes who can't provide them with many material things. These families do their best to make ends meet. Some share their food and shelter with relatives, but despite these disadvantages they are eager and motivated to learn. They come to school with a smile and are ready to prepare themselves to succeed and take pride in their work. .
My Project
My students have a love for money, yet I feel that they don't know much about it and the importance of it. These books and play register will provide my class opportunities to learn daily about earning and saving money. I feel that these days, young adults do not even know how to count cash because everyone is used to swiping cards. I do not want that for my students.
I want my students to become financially successful in life.
I think schools should emphasize more on teaching students how to earn and save. And if I believe that, I want to start by practicing it.
