This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful class is made up of a large percentage of English language Learners and Special Education Students. They receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of my students come from single parent households and hard working families who speak very little english. Many of their parents are not able to supply them with the technology that they need in this day and age to be successful and to become college ready.
My students are willing to work hard and try their best to be successful.
Many of them are visual learners. Technology is essential in reaching their goals, participating in remote learning if need be, and preparing them to be life long learners. Unfortunately my classroom is extremely limited in that department. We are in desperate need of a printer for my students to print photos of animals we are studying, print out a finished product of a research assignment they have created, or for me to print out activities to enhance their learning.
My Project
Our classroom has gone without a working printer for some time. Due to the fact that most of my students live in poverty, they do not have access to a printer at home. It is vital to their learning that they have the ability to print resources and their work. In our classroom, we will use a printer to enhance our lessons and give students printed access to materials and their class work. As a teacher, having a printer in my classroom is essential to planning my lessons. Valuable planning time is wasted waiting on line for the school copy machine which is often broken.
