This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a science teacher in an elementary school teaching science to six different grades. I teach over five hundred students in my school. The school is in a low income neighborhood with very little funds from the the Department of Education. In addition, the students have very little experience with nature.
I would like the students to study life science with hands-on experience. Our school has very little money set aside for teachers to purchase materials that are needed for their classrooms. In addition, this year we were told that there is no money for additional purchases.
Throughout all the grades in my program, I need to teach students about animals. With your help, I can bring live animals: hermit crabs, butterflies, worms, ladybugs, pill bugs, and praying mantis into the classroom. Please help install some unforgettable learning experiences for my science students that total over five hundred students.
Let's have some fun and add some excitement into our science classroom! My students are inner city kids. They lack the experiences with animals. We need live animals to make science more kid friendly for the lower income inner New York City kids!
We often underestimate what young children can learn. It's never too early to teach children about how other living things need to stay alive. With your help, my students will have a unique first hand experience in science at an early age. My project needs live animals. Please help make this become a reality.
