Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a STEM teacher at a Title I elementary school. This is our inaugural year with a STEM lab. In our lab, students will enjoy hands-on learning activities that will allow them to apply technology, science, math, and engineering skills.
Our new STEM lab will be a place for all students to collaborate, build, explore, and problem solve while learning.
Our students come to STEM ready for hands-on challenges with open ended solutions. While working within the design process, students in STEM are encouraged to think outside the box to stay engaged and grow socially and academically in all subject areas. Our STEM lab is quickly becoming a favorite among our students.
My Project
We love coding with Sphero in our STEM lab. With this project, we will be able to expand our love of Sphero and music with Sphero Specdrums. Specdrums allow a musical outlet with endless possibilities. When students use Specdrums they use technology to get creative and discover their own music creations. Students can work individually or with their peers with items found in the classroom to practice music. With using school technology, students can create tunes using different instrument sounds. With a little practice they can mix instruments, create loops, and join the beat of their friends.
