This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you ever think about all the different subjects in school and try to figure out how they were connected? This year my students are being introduced to the links between science, technology, engineering and math.
My students are energetic, hardworking, fun loving students like most middle school students are.
They come from many different backgrounds and most qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Many students do not have technology other than their parents' smartphones at home, so the only place they are able to experience it is in the classroom. A large percentage of my students this year are English Language Learners.
My Project
My students need Sphero Robots and accessories to see how science, technology, math and art can be related. With these six robots, the students will be able to program robots, learn about the science behind what makes them work, and use math to calculate the speed of each one. We then will be able to graph the data and compare the different robots. If we have enough time this year, we will be able to program them to make a large whole class painting.
With these supplies, we will be able to begin to build on some of the connections between subjects and create some cool moving robots in the process.
Science and technology are such an important part of a student's learning that have been cut out as the money in education has decreased.
With these supplies, we will be able to bring a small part back into the classroom.
