Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our Title I public school offers our 6th graders an opportunity to experience all art forms then in the 7th and 8th grade they choose a 'major'. They are offered one period every day to come to either the music room, visual art or dance room to express themselves as artists. It is a magical period in the intense school day where they are gifted the chance to sit in a room full of students who are as interested as they are in music and create beauty. It is part creativity and part therapy.
Presently we are unable to give each piano student their own keyboard, we are one short.
As a result two students sit on the same keyboard to complete tasks. This was workable in the way we public school teachers make things happen for the first 6 months of the school year. As we enter the next level of the learning, composing music independently, the students need to have their own digital piano to work on during class time.
