Imagine running back home from school and telling your parents that today you got to play an instrument that sounded like rain, thunder or a frog and you came up with this really really cool story about a frog that got caught in the rainstorm? And then the whole class performed your story?!
We are a Pre-K through 5 high poverty New York City school.
We have a diverse population of learners including English language learners, special education students as well as gifted and talented students. What distinguishes us form the other schools is that our students are grateful for what they get.
My Project
We often do music storytelling in our class. Having new instruments that we can use for sound effects would be great. But we are going to take it one step further. Instruments that we are requesting are so vivid and so captivating that they will be used as inspiration. Students will compose their own musical stories inspired by those instrument. Think of a story that you would come up with based on a drum that makes thunder sounds?
By donating to this project you will be donating to music education, to our children and to developing their imagination.
With your help our students will get a chance to explore new instruments and be inspired.
