My students need a K-1 STEM Bundle, 3 sets of level 1 nonfiction book sight word readers and 3 sets of level 2 nonfiction book sight word readers to help them improve their critical thinking and reading skills.

My Students

My ESOL students are curious about how the world around them words. From learning how school works in the United States, to building a car out of trash, to figuring out how to read their next book.

My students come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Many of the are born in the United States. Others are new to the country. Some enter kindergarten with a limited knowledge of the English language. Most come from hard working families that struggle financially. They are all eager to learn and enjoy hands on learning experiences.

My Project

I am requesting the STEM Bundle for K-Gr.1 and six sets of nonfiction sight word books. My students will use the STEM bundle in a variety of different ways. They will practice their reading skills by following the directions on the task cards. The realia (real life objects) will aid my ESOL students in visualizing what the directions are asking them. The fairy tale section will help integrate language arts with STEM subjects. The nonfiction sight word books will build my students' vocabulary and reading levels.

Having these hands-on STEM materials with help my ESOL students improve their critical thinking and reading skills.

This knowledge will help spark their interest in a STEM career and build their language skills.
