My Students

Printing out the same thing year after year is such a waste of time and paper. Laminating things I know we will use every year will help save time, as well as our planet.

Our school is in New York.

The school includes students from Pre-kindergarten to eighth grade, and it is a melting pot of descendants from the West Indies. The school is in a high poverty area, and about 95% of the students in the school receive free lunch. There are eighteen energetic, three and four-year-old children in my class, but there are not a lot of funds to enrich these students' education because of the budget cuts.

My Project

I am requesting colorful copy paper and laminating pouches to create great reusable math and literacy manipulatives for my Pre-kindergarten class. In math and literacy we use several kinds of mats that I create and copy for my class. For example the students have a mat they use to find and match the letters in their names and a mat they use to sort things by different attributes. I plan on using the colored paper to print these mats and then I will laminate them with the pouches.

I love creating high quality hands-on resources for my Pre-kindergarten class myself.

Laminating these colorful mats will ensure they last through the school year and hopefully into the next year too!
