This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a unique and diverse group of students who are always willing to go the extra mile to understand the world around them. Although my students all have individual disabilities, they are determined to break stereotypes and pursue their dreams.

In spite of having disabilities and living in a low income area, my students have continued to demonstrate their fierce love of learning through their hard work and caring effort.

Working with this amazing group of students is a powerful learning experience that teaches me about strength and perseverance.

My Project

These materials are extremely important in helping my students grasp academic content.

Since my students all have diverse special needs, I create power point presentations for certain subjects using visual pictures and highlighted text to present the information.

Nevertheless, some of my students still have difficulties copying from the board due to poor visual and hand coordination that is not in their control. I would love to be able to print these lessons in color for my students but unfortunately, our school does not have enough funding to allow for that resource. Having a color printer, with toner, to use with my students would provide them with a great opportunity to access the lessons presented. Furthermore, they could use the printer to engage in graphic designs to accompany their work which can help shape their artistic abilities as well.

In addition, the Time for Kids subscription will give me access to high interest material that will motivate my students in the area of reading. Students like mine who have difficulties in this area would significantly benefit from such a resource.
