This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is an inner-city campus that is currently a Tier 1-IR campus. All students in the school receive both free breakfast and lunch. The majority of the students come from low-income families. Their socioeconomic status can greatly impact their education in various ways, from having enough food at home to stay alert at school, to being able to take basic supplies to school to achieve their academic duties. The demographics of the school show that the schools' student body is over 90% Hispanic. The majority of Latino and Hispanic students at the school come from immigrant families and are at risk of dropping out or being left behind due to the language barriers.
My Project
The following pieces of technology will help my students, research, study and complete assignments in the classroom. A lot of my students lack the technology and when it comes to some assignments it would make it so much easier and fun to learn new material. Especially in a history class where students have to do a lot of reading.
The tablets are going to be used to do things such as, review games, create videos, use educational apps, and research.
I have added a few tablets to my classroom and so far, my students are loving the fact that they are "playing games" when in reality they are just going through assignments. I want to be able to have all my students use the technology rather than having students take turns. Sometimes they aren't working in groups and wait their turn to be able to turn in an assignment or to participate. Adding more tablets will keep more students engaged.
The laptop I added will also be used to do the same things the tablets are meant for, but the difference is the laptop will be used for additional tasks. Other tasks include, type out papers, create presentations or Power Points and even print out materials. I want students to be able to create and print, the laptops sometimes make that hard to do.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
