Every Friday we have "Composer Friday". We need headphones, speakers and headphone jacks to improve our experience as we study the lives of composers
My students are working hard for success.
We are a Title 1 school and my students need every helping hand we can give them to reach success, because when they succeed they will not merely reach their goals they will exceed them. Composer Friday offers my students a chance to study the world beyond their own experience. They listen to music and read biographical information about musical composers and various musical genres.
My Project
Speakers, headphones and headphone jacks will allow my students to listen to various pieces of music in one class time because we will be in small groups rather than in whole groups. Their opportunity to respond to the music both verbally and on paper will increase.
"Composer Friday" is just one more way that music education benefits the overall education of children.
I will provide small group practice for responding to pieces of music. Most reading tests require that students respond to long passages of written material. By allowing them to respond to musical excerpts instead, they have the chance to practice their responses without having to read. Additionally, since biographical texts are always included, the information they do read is of interest.
