Let There Be Lights (And Some Basic Art Supplies)!
My students need two floor lamps, as well as some basic art supplies, including paint, glue and art markers.

I work with small groups of elementary school students who are exceptionally talented in the visual arts. The Talented Arts program is designed to provide these exceptional children with an opportunity to develop their creative skills and talents. My school is located in an extremely high-need community in the Deep South, and my students come from a background of extreme urban poverty.
I have returned to my position teaching for this program after a 4 year hiatus in Colorado. (We had some bad weather around here that drove me out of town for a while.) The room where I will be working with my students does not have any lighting (it is really difficult to create art in a dark room), and we do not have any art supplies to work with.
These kids have natural artistic talent, and they have been given the opportunity to participate in this arts program in order to develop their skills. I have found opportunities for the students to create large murals and participate in several contests and competitions. But we need some basic art supplies in order to do any serious work.
Your generosity will give my students the opportunity to explore their artistic potential using "real" art supplies to create big, exciting, substantial works of art that will be seen and celebrated in their community. This may be the only chance that some of these kids have to really excel and they deserve the opportunity to succeed.
