This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The best learning happens when the right environment is created for my Multilingual students. I have spent some time planning this very type of classroom setting for them. I create this welcoming atmosphere by playing classical music in our classroom, keeping a clean, organized space for them, keeping predictable routines, and even making sure our classroom smells appealing. Lastly, I would like to focus on the lighting.
Warm lighting fosters an inviting atmosphere where my students can learn.
Unfortunately, the overhead fluorescent classroom lighting is too bright and can be overstimulating. My goal is to use warm lighting to create a cozy, intimate, and comfortable feeling for my students which is conducive to their learning.
Lastly, my Multilingual students are unique because many of them are newcomers to the United States. The majority of them come from third-world countries where many of their needs were not met. Having a warm, comfortable place for them to learn would bring a sense of security to them in a country where everything is new!
