My Students
We are a family that works together to move forward in our academic and social goals--we are a school at work! My students represent a wide variety of immigrant communities, experiences, and abilities. Each day is filled with humor and new learning opportunities for both students and myself as we begin on this 3-year road together. I am inspired by my students' abilities to work together, to move forward, and be creative about their learning.
I strive to serve my students and their families through partnership, tough love, and humor.
They are currently exploring the basics of becoming great writers and curious investigators of ancient history.
My Project
My students are very good-natured dealing with our old lighting system--it's a remnant of the building's former use--but it means we are constantly having to move around to get the motion-sensor to "see" us. Every day after school I have students who stay for at least an hour for tutoring or to hang out with their classmates to finish homework or play board games. Since the daylight savings time change, we are literally in the dark!
Having floor lamps to plug in will allow us to be able to enjoy and engage more actively after school without the disruption of the lights going on and off.
