My students need the Color Changing Light Table to enhance the student's learning of colors, letters, numbers, etc. through hands-on manipulatives that encourage learning.
At AES, we foster a community of students with strong character and high self-esteem who display critical-thinking skills that will enable them to become life-long learners. Our staff members and parents work together to educate more than 600 children in grades Pre K-5th. Our school is considered a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free and reduced-rate lunch.
My classroom consists of 18 amazing and imaginative students.
Each student is unique and brings vivacious energy to the classroom. Out of those 18 students, seven can identify their all letters of the alphabets, and three can count to 100.
I like to use differentiated learning and centers throughout the day and would love to add a light table (as I have a water/sensory table) as an independent center. Though we have many interventions in place for these students, many of them are lacking the necessary resources to continue working at home.
My Project
The possibility of acquiring a light table has been a dream for a long time for my classroom. I know that the students need this hands-on experience with manipulating light, exploring, and experimenting. We have a large need for materials to enrich our ELA and MATH education. I am requesting one light table, light table manipulatives (such as translucent numbers, letter, buts, buttons, and pattern blocks), magna tiles, and other slides. These materials will enhance their experiences with technology and engineering by allowing them to see and manipulate the materials in ways which they would not be able to without a light table. They will also help develop their visual and spatial reasoning skills.
