Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The light table in my classroom is a favorite! I want to encourage deeper science, engineering, and math exploration with new light table manipulatives. The translucent building blocks help build engineering skills by allowing young learners to see and play with how light and various manipulatives work. Providing experiences with STEM concepts at this young age sets the foundation for learning in the future.
As with everything in the TK classroom, these tools will fill a need in multiple content areas: language development, math, science, art, and literacy.
Students can use the blocks to build letters or practice forming their names. They can use the rainbow pebbles to create art. The pattern blocks build geometry and math concepts. The magnetic blocks help students learn about magnets and building concepts. Encouraging conversations between students and teachers helps build language development. The added bonus is that students learn through play! In early childhood, play is the work of children!
Your donation will help provide experiences and learning throughout the year in this classroom. The tools will be changed out regularly so students are always curious and engaged in new play.
