This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students would love to be able to express their learning through art. They particularly enjoy project-based learning in which they work cooperatively in a group. They are most engaged and creative at these times. Having the supplies to do this would add joy to our daily experiences.
My students are both general education and special education students in a large urban school in the Bronx.
Many are bilingual. Most students receive free or reduced lunch. Some live in nearby shelters. They are an enthusiastic group that loves learning. They particularly enjoy social studies and love expressing what they learn in creative ways, like songs, poetry, plays and art.
My Project
These supplies will allow my students to make pottery, masks, paintings and murals that depict different cultures. They will be able to express their learning in creative and joyful ways. This type of learning will allow them to work both individually and cooperatively. These supplies will allow for a whole new dimension in their learning.
This project will enable the classroom to be filled with art work.
This will build knowledge and self confidence for each student. They will be able to take risks and express themselves artistically. They will appreciate the differing talents of each student. It will enliven the class and inspire each child.
