As my fourth year at my school is starting, I have gotten to know this school and its heart. I was overwhelmed by the parents and students, and the drive they have to learn and support teachers and faculty. Our school is diverse in many ways. We have many different languages and religions represented. We have an extremely high population of ESE students, who require intensive reading and math intervention.
What I love about my school is that the families here love to learn, and the parents are instilling that in their students.
So each student, no matter where they are in their learning journey, is trying and working to be a better student.
My Project
Our school is a big proponent of recess and PE time. We believe that play is powerful and necessary for our bodies and our minds. We have been using older PE and recess equipment for the better part of our year and many of our supplies are broken or unusable.
I would love to see my students faces when they receive their new equipment of kickball, footballs, jump ropes and Frisbee.
This would make this time more enjoyable and safer. The time we get outside helps with the inside too. Our minds are calmer and more learning can take place.
