it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Budget cuts have hit schools very hard in recent years. Our students have a wonderful opportunity learn and grow using technology within a computer lab. However, without headsets for each computer no one can learn through all the noise. Our students need individual headsets for optimal learning.
Our students come for mostly low income families, but they are eager to learn.
Most of our students only have access to computers at schools. Each student jumps at the chance to use the one computer in our classroom. Our school like many has been hit hard by the recession and state budget cuts. Funds to equip our computer lab are not the priority. Our students need greater exposure to computers to become knowledgeable in technology for their futures.
My Project
Being computer literate is an essential part of life today. The more students have an opportunity to work with computers the better users they become. Many teachers have one, possibly two computers in the classroom. That is not enough when a classroom has up to 25 students in it. The school computer lab gives all students an opportunity to use and become proficient in computer technology. However, the computer lab cannot be used without headphones for each individual student. A computer lab without headphones is a jumbled mess of noise. Headphones are an essential part of using the computer lab to enhance individual learning through special computer programs to improve the reading, math, science, and social studies of our students. Headphones for the computer lab will give students the opportunity to focus their attention on their computer activity and not to be distracted by what their friends might be doing.
Not every student has opportunities to use computers outside of school.
Without headphones in the school computer lab many won't have the opportunity to use them within school either. Computers are a way of life these days and to be successful in school and in life students need know how to use computers and programs. The programs we use at our school enhance and improve reading, math, science, and social studies for. Your donation will allow 350 students at our school to use the computer lab.
