Help me give my students the opportunity to hear me while online. I also need a document camera so they can watch as we take notes together or do shared writing.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
After 17 years of teaching, this is a whole new beginning! I teach in a fairly poor neighborhood where my students qualify for 100% free breakfast and lunch daily.
My students are my heroes.
Some share their beds, bedrooms, or homes with extended families. Many of my students are English Language Learners. Even though they may not have it "easy," they show up every day (and now on zoom) with a smile on their faces to do their job as a student.
They work so hard on a daily basis to keep their grades up and make their families proud. I love my job and I LOVE my students.
My Project
Since we are all learning from home, it is important that my students can hear me even as I step away from the computer to work on co-created charts with them. Also, in the Spring, I tried to use my phone as a document camera and that doesn't work. It cuts out and the kids get easily frustrated. With an actual document camera, it should be quick and easy for my students to see exactly what we are working on! If we have to stay home, let's make the best of it!
