This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 6th and 8th graders math. I enjoy teaching my students because they are adventurous, kind, inquisitive and smart! They love math and many of them love to share their solutions with the class. I want to encourage more students to speak up and share their brilliance with the rest of the class. I want to give them the opportunity to be heard.
The majority of my students are English Language Learners.
I always encourage them to speak out loud so that they make more progress with the language. The more they speak, the more proficient they get.
My Project
The Qball microphone and speaker will help me in a couple ways. First, it will help me hear my students. I have speech hearing loss which makes it really hard for me to hear my students. I wear hearing aides, but the environmental sounds in the class and the hallway still make it difficult for me to hear them. I often have to move closer to my students to hear them and that is not always convenient.
In addition, the Qball will encourage more students to speak and share their responses with the class.
It makes answering questions more fun and a little less scary.
