My students need storybooks to use during center time and for read-alouds. Your generous donation will provide my students with a collection of classical stories and nursery rhyme books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 18 pre-kindergarten students who are all non-English speaking students. They all come from homes where parents, unfortunately, do not speak English and do not have a role model to learn the English language. They are mostly from low-income families. My students are energetic little kids who love to learn and are very excited about being in school. However, since my students are all non-English speaking students they need a lot of visuals and hands-on activities in order to learn and make the learning process more meaningful.
My Project
Unfortunately, there are only a few books in my library center because this is my first year as a pre-kindergarten teacher. Pre-kindergarten teachers do not receive any funds like the teachers from other grade levels in order to purchase materials. Therefore, I am left with the very difficult task of having to purchase all the materials which has not been easy considering that there are many other materials aside from books that are needed in pre-k.
My students need engaging, exciting, and fantastic books that will keep them engaged during story time.
Every day my students come to school eager to learn. Their favorite time of the day is story time which allows them to use their imagination to explore a world of fairy tales and happy endings. Unfortunately, my students do not have the opportunity to be read to at home due to the lack of books and time. A lot of these parents do not even know the importance of reading to their children. My students come from single-parent homes or low-income homes where the parents find it hard to read to their children. Please help me provide these children with fun and engaging literature. I am requesting a collection of classical stories that are not only fascinating but teach important lessons. Growing up, these are stories I loved such as Goldilocks and The Three Little Bears and Little Red Ring Hood. I want my students to be able to enjoy these stories as well and grow up and read them to their children someday. These stories will allow my English language learners to listen to proper English pronunciations, learn important life lessons and most importantly learn that using their imagination is only a storybook away.
