Last August, a group of intelligent, curious, energetic, happy four-years-old children took their first steps into my pre-kindergarten classroom as they began the first step of their formal public school adventure!
Our school is in a rural town of about 817 people with average incomes between $21,000-$24,000.
The town is so small that there isn't a stoplight, a chain restaurant, a Wal-Mart, a library, or a public park, but we do have a new Dollar General, an excellent quilt shop, a handful of small businesses, and some of the best kids in the world!
My Project
The set of My First Journals will be used daily by my budding authors & illustrators. They will express themselves through their creative artwork and their emergent writing skills. In the spring, each student will get to "self-publish" a unique-one-of-a-kind book by using the blank soft-covered books.
My pre-k students WANT to be authors & illustrators.
They deserve fun, developmentally appropriate materials that will help them learn to become writers.
By helping my class today, you might be helping tomorrow's bestselling authors and illustrators! Please make a difference in the lives of my pre-k students. They each have stories to share!
