Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our third-grade classroom is full of curiosity, insight, and wonder. This year, students are learning with three new web-based curricula. This is amazing for introducing new concepts and allowing students to participate in multiple ways. We projected an online base-ten block tool to help them recognize a strategy for 3-digit addition with regrouping. As we investigated our location in the context of oceans and continents, we were able to explore with Google Earth. Students see text, spelling pattern sorts, math algorithms, short videos that illustrate a concept, and much more projected each day.

Your help in acquiring a large screen will allow us to leave behind the cord-hoarding and unreliable projector.

Students will no longer have to strain to see the images and text. We will no longer be waiting for the projector to warm up or switch functions. We will not have to worry that the bulb will go out once again, obliging us to buy a $150 dollar replacement. Also, we will be able to do away with the duct-taped cords snaking across the classroom!

More importantly, our class will have access to the 21st-century technology that they will use and build on. They will develop the understanding that it can be used as a tool for the agency as they make decisions and present their learning. They will also see the value placed on them as learners and members of our society.
